A HUB is a place where neighbors gather after a major disaster to to seek and share information, identify hazards and urgent needs, and connect available community resources. The Roanoke Park Hub is part of Seattle's 50+ volunteer-run Emergency Communication Hubs that activate when normal services are disrupted.
To help our neighborhood BEFORE a crisis, our Hub will provide periodic drills; preparedness materials for renters, homeowners, buildings, businesses, and organizations; and free trainings, including on stocking basic supplies like water and food which is each person’s responsibility.
The Roanoke Park Hub is operated solely by neighborhood volunteers who plan for risk reduction and resilience.

The Roanoke Park Hub serves ~950 households, plus local businesses. That’s a lot of neighbors to connect with during an emergency.
The hub system work best when neighbors on the same block or in the same building already know each other and can send one or more delegates to and from the Hub during a disaster.
The City of Seattle created the SNAP (Seattle Neighborhoods Actively Prepare) program to help facilitate this. Find out how to organize your own SNAP block here.
Seem overwhelming? It isn't if you start by being hyper-local! By preparing at home, you help prepare your neighborhood. By preparing your neighborhood, you help prepare your community hub.
